Silverton Wine & Jazz Series 2013 Info
The Silverton Wine and Jazz 2013 series is scheduled to include several intimate evening performances. The first two events will be held in the hall of Creekside Grill on May 4th and June 1st.
The Djangophiles Trio with Eddie Parente opens the series in the spirit of the late Django Reinhardt and Stefane Grappelli’s Hot Jazz Club of France, one of the first all-string bands of jazz. Eddie Parente will play violin while Dave Stassens and Mike Burdett take guitar.
On June 1, the Mark Simon Trio sets the mood as fans at Creekside Grill welcome back vocalist Bre Gregg and pianist, Mark Simon, made popular by their performances at the restaurant’s Valentine dinners a few years back. This time, they will grace the hall where the acoustics are better and will be accompanied by one of Portland’s premier bass players, Kevin Dietz. Piluso Winery & Vineyard and King’s Raven will offer wine by the glass or bottle. Tickets are $15.
Evening performances continue June 29th, renowned pianist Tom Grant will perform with Silverton’s own Joanna Rios at the famous Gordon House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, located on the grounds of the Oregon Garden. The series moves to Howard Hinsdale Wine Cellars on July 27th presenting an evening with guitarist Christopher Woitach and bassist Dan Schulte. The summer will be sizzling when the acclaimed Three Leg Torso hits Silverton at Seven Brides Brewery on August 24th. The fall is likely to bring even more excitement.
The concerts will offer patrons a variety of experiences, where they can enjoy wines from the East Willamette Valley with music by some of the Northwest’s best jazz musicians throughout the year. The traditional day-long festival will resume in 2014 in the heart of historic downtown Silverton. The series of concerts will act as fundraisers to support the organization’s efforts in the coming year.
The evening performances will also allow concert goers to enjoy the day visiting many other attractions downtown and in the surrounding area. The East Willamette Valley Wine tour showcases this region’s fertile soil and ideal climate, which has fostered more than 1500 acres of vineyards in just a few short years. Nestled in the trees and hills beneath the Cascade Foothills, just 12 miles east of Salem, lies the unique atmosphere of Silverton – providing a feast for the senses, including murals, Silver Creek, Coolidge-McClaine Park, The Oregon Garden, and Silver Falls State Park, just minutes away.
All summer performances begin at 7:00 p.m. with individual event tickets ranging from $15 to $20. Wine and jazz lovers can purchase tickets at the Silverton Chamber of Commerce or Online at www.tickettomato.com. Ticketholders must be 21 or older.
